Course Delivery: NYC Site Safety Training (SST)

SST 2-Hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness – Online

No-Drugs

This course has been designed to introduce employees to the dangers of drug and alcohol use, both personally and within the workplace. It will familiarize students with a broad scope of dependency disorder. The course will elaborate on the general effects and impairment of drug use, and the use of alcohol within the workplace, specifically in relation to the effects of combined use of drugs and alcohol use within the construction industry. This training will help you avoid working while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and become better at recognizing, avoiding and preventing (RAP) the adverse consequences of drug and/or alcohol use and abuse.

We will also review various drugs and their effects on the body, alcohol and its effect on the body, the adverse effects of mixing drugs including OTC medications with alcohol, the prevention and control of drugs as well as the use of alcohol within the workplace.

You will also be provided resources for employees who are seeking help for themselves or for a loved one in relation to drug and alcohol abuse.

SST 4-Hour Supported Scaffold User and Refresher – Online

This course is intended to be a refresher course on the use of supported scaffolds in New York City. There are many hazards related to using a temporary elevated surface that can cause injury to workers, pedestrians, and contractors. In this course, the federal and local regulations will be covered to inform the students of applicable laws. The course will also discuss the safety and health requirements to ensure an understanding of how to prevent injuries while working on or near scaffolds.

SST 8-Hour Site Safety Manager Refresher/Chapter 33

SITE-SAFETY (1)

This course is designed to meet the requirements of the New York City Department of Buildings 8-Hour Site Safety Manager Refresher Course. In this course, the students will learn the comprehensive rules and requirements of the OSHA laws and NYC construction codes, as they pertain to the Site Safety Manager Position.

Chapter 33 of New York City Building Code governs construction operations affecting the public. The purpose of Chapter 33 of New York City Building Code includes and covers construction activities, including: excavation; demolition; erection, and, alteration.

Local Law 196 of 2017 requires certain workers and supervisors to receive safety training at construction sites that are required to designate a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator or Site Safety Manager. This will require:

Workers at these job sites to receive 40 hours of safety training (SST Card); and
Supervisors at these job sites to receive 62 hours of safety training (SST Supervisor Card).
This is a refresher course and WILL NOT include ALL codes that permit holders and other persons are responsible to follow. These codes are enforced through the Rules of the City of New York. Also, this course must not be construed to relieve persons engaged in construction or demolition operations from complying with other applicable provisions of law, nor is it intended to alter or diminish any obligation otherwise imposed by law on any party engaged in a construction or demolition operation.

NOTE:

Including but not limited to the owner, construction manager, general contractor, sub-contractors, material men, registered design professionals, or other party to engage in sound design and engineering
Safe construction or demolition practices, including but not limited to debris removal, and to act in a reasonable and responsible manner to maintain a safe construction or demolition site.
